Bihar Universities finally get Vice Chancellors

PATNA: Governor-cum-chancellor D Y Patil on Friday appointed new VCs and pro-VCs of 10 universities, for a temporary period, following a Supreme Court directive.

Here’s a list for ready reference

While Patna Science College principal Arun Kumar Sinha has been appointed Patna University VC, geography professor and former VC Sudeepto Adhikari has been appointed its pro-VC.

In B N Mandal University’s zoology professor R N Mishra and history professor Jai Prakash Narain Jha have been appointed VC and pro-VC respectively of the university.

In B R A Bihar University, history professor Ravi Verma and psychology professor Rajendra Mishra have been appointed VC and pro-VC respectively, according to Shivdeep W Lande, ADC to the governor.

 

Mathematics professor S N Dubey and Hindi professor D D Sharma have been made VC and pro-VC respectively of JP University.

In K S D Sanskrit University, Prof Upendra Jha and Ram Chandra Jha have been appointed VC and pro-VC respectively.

Patna divisional commissioner E L S N Bala Prasad has been appointed VC of Maulana Mazharul Haq Arabic and Persian University while English Prof Syed Jalil Ahmad has been appointed its pro-VC.

 

Magadh divisional commissioner R K Khandelwal has been appointed VC of Magadh University while Botany professor Nandjee Kumar has been appointed its pro-VC.

Psychology professor N K Verma and chemistry professor N K Sinha have been appointed VC and pro-VC respectively of Tilka Manjhi Bhagalpur University. Mathematics professor Sri Ram Singh and economics professor Pratap Narain Singh have been appointed VC and pro-VC of Veer Kuer Singh University.

 L S N Bala Prasad, Divisional Commissioner, Patna has been appointed as VC and Munindra Kumar, University Professor (Botany), Pro V C of Nalanda Open University, Patna.

 

Earlier senior most deans were appointed as VCs in different universities as per the apex court’s order, but it had led to some controversies. Regular appointment of VCs and pro-VCs will be made following the formation of a search committee in the light of the Supreme Court’s order. The ordinance regulating the constitution of the search committee is likely to be promulgated soon.
